STAR | SORT | DIVE The Special Operations Response Team (SORT) is a specialized unit of the Russell County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division consisting of five officers with specialized training. While 99.5% of all officer and inmate interaction can be dealt with using presence and positive dialouge, the other 0.5% requires that we must train for and be prepared to handle these situations in a professional, responsible and efficient manner. This requires a team of officers, both men and women, with the specialized training, skills and equipment to handle these situations. This helps to ensure the safety, integrity and security of inmates, officers and the physical jail.
